How we collect, use and protect your personal information under POPIA.

Absolut Cyber Solutions (“Absolut Cyber”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through absolutcyber.co.za, why we collect it, how we protect it and the rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (“POPIA”).

1. Who we are

Absolut Cyber Solutions is a software development business based in South Africa. For the purposes of POPIA we are the “responsible party” for personal information collected through this website.

2. What we collect

Information you give us

When you complete our contact form we collect:

  • your name and email address (required)
  • your phone number and company name (optional)
  • the service you are interested in, your indicative budget and your message
  • a record that you agreed to this Privacy Policy, and when

If you email or phone us directly, we receive whatever information you choose to share.

Information collected automatically

  • IP address: used briefly to protect the site from abuse, for example to limit repeated form submissions or failed login attempts. These security records expire automatically within one hour.
  • Server logs: our hosting provider keeps standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, date and time) for security and troubleshooting.
  • Cookies: we use only essential cookies. See our Cookie Policy.

We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not load fonts, scripts or other content from third-party services when you browse this site.

3. Why we use your information

We will not use your information for direct marketing unless you have separately agreed to it, and you can opt out at any time. We never sell or rent personal information.

4. Who we share it with

We share personal information only when necessary, with:

  • Service providers (“operators”) who help us run the business, such as our website hosting and email providers. They may process information only on our instructions and must keep it secure and confidential.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it.

If a service provider stores information outside South Africa, we will only use providers in countries or under agreements that give protection substantially similar to POPIA, as required by section 72.

5. How we protect it

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, restricting access to enquiries to authorised administrators, login protection, security hardening of the website and keeping software up to date. No system is completely secure, but if a security compromise affects your personal information we will notify you and the Information Regulator as required by POPIA.

6. How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not lead to a business relationship are deleted within 24 months.
  • Client records are kept for the duration of our relationship and for as long afterwards as required by law, for example up to five years for tax and accounting records.
  • Security records of IP addresses expire automatically within one hour.

7. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you, and request a copy of it
  • ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or unlawfully obtained
  • object to the processing of your information, on reasonable grounds
  • withdraw your consent at any time. This does not affect processing already carried out.
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator

8. Children

This website is intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.

9. Other websites

Our site links to external sites such as Instagram. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave our site.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
